The IST-Africa 2009 Conference and Exhibition takes place at the beginning of May in Kampala. The IST-Africa initiative is co-funded by the European Commission in order to promote the participation of African organizations to the European Framework programs that supports collaborative research efforts. The 7th Framework (FP7) sets the priorities for the period of 2007-2013 and encourages joining forces in addressing research challenges that benefits from intercontinental collaboration. SPIDER will be participating at the three-day conference and be part of the 3rd day Closing Plenary regarding Initiatives Supporting Development of Regional S&T.

The newly approved project ICT4MPOWER – Improved Effectiveness of the Health System and
Empowerment of Healthcare Communities in Uganda
will be presented at the Conference by the Uganda Ministry of Health, one of the main collaborating partners. The final program is now available at the IST-Africa website.
