Staff changes

Dr. Afzal Sher has decided to return to Sida after 5 years as director of SPIDER. At Sida he will continue to champion ICT4D in development cooperation.

Karoline Beronius is also moving on to new challenges. As of March 8 she will be working at KTH with the new EIT ICT Labs.

We wish Karoline and Afzal the best of luck and look forward to continue working together on ICT4D issues.

We now welcome Astrid Dufborg as the new acting director of SPIDER. She will be overseeing the process of recruiting a new permanent director and manage the continued operation of SPIDER in the meantime.

Astrid Dufborg has an extensive development experience from over 30 years through Sida, which includes about 10 years stationed in Eastern and Southern Africa working on a variety of areas, such as education, public administration and infrastructure. She has been engaged in ICT4D issues on bilateral, multilateral and non-for profit basis over the last decade; such as leading the Swedish participation in the World Summit on Information Society process, representing Sweden in the UN ICT Task Force and as the co-founder, later the Executive Director and most recently one of the Directors of GeSCI (Global e-Schools and Communities Initiative).
