IPID - Postgraduate community

The International Network for PG Students in ICT4D

The SPIDER International Post Graduate Student Network (IPID) was established during spring 2006 with support from SPIDER with the ambition to become a research meeting place as well as a social meeting place for doctoral and master students within the area of ICT4D.

The network seems to be unique within the area of ICT4D and the academic activities coordinated by IPID provides the students with opportunities to present their papers at national and international conferences and workshops. The social activities arranged for the members encourage networking, contact, communication, collaboration and includes visits at different universities.

The purpose of the administration part of IPID is to support the members by providing service for the IPID community. Member service include availability to information on the website (IPID Site), to be part of the mailing list (IPID List), planning and realization of all activities (academic as well as social). Twice a month a newsletter, the IPID News is distributed to all its members. The newsletter is developed and administrated by Gudrun Wicander at Karlstad University. The IPID News include suggestions about journals and conferences related to ICT4D, calls for papers, and available positions in research and practice in different intuitions and organizations as well as news from the development organizations.

Today (May 2009), 363 PG students from 253 universities in 81 countries are participating in this network.
